Pastoral note, from Garrett

It’s time to sign up for the Church retreat. Don’t miss out on this incredible community-building weekend. This is where acquaintances become lifelong friends. 

Our theme this year is “Blessed are the Peacemakers.” We’ll discuss ways we can be peacemakers in our everyday lives with family and friends. Carrie Graham will be our guest speaker. You can read about her below. She’s the founder of the Church Lab in Austin. She’s energetic, creative, and profound. She’s right up your alley. 

Next Monday we will have a church business meeting on Zoom and in the Traveler’s Classroom at noon. That day, we will vote on the revised personnel policy. At the last meeting, we reviewed the updates from the Personnel Committee. The main update is the addition of a parental leave policy. We will send out a meeting link later this week, along with the minutes from the last meeting. 

At that meeting, we will also vote on the ordination of Ari Juarez. Her ordination council met Sunday afternoon and unanimously proposed that the church ordain her. Ari is a chaplain in the Baptist Health System and has been a faithful member of the CMOP Sunday School class for a few years now. 

This coming Sunday, our deacons will meet at noon in the Youth Center. We will be making plans for the anniversary picnic coming up on October 5.
