Pastoral note, from Garrett

We are past Spring Break and moving into a full Lenten schedule.

We had our first Kidsong 18/6 on Sunday. Kidsong is our new children’s choir initiative. The focus is cultivating a love of singing in the children of Woodland. 18/6? That means it’s 18 minutes long for 6 sessions before they lead in worship this May. At the end of worship, Randy and the choral scholars lead the children over to Maresh Hall for Kidsong. Along the way, kids get a snack and juice.

This Wednesday night, we will start a three-week Serendipity series on friendship. Mike Massar will teach about friendship using the relationship of C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien as an example. These two great writers had a profound effect on each other. Meet us in the Atrium at 5:30 p.m. There will be snacks and drinks.

This Sunday night at 6 p.m., we are doing a live reading of the Gospel of Mark in the sanctuary. The shortest and first-written gospel is best heard in one sitting. You better understand how it fits together when you read it all together or listen to it all at once. The reading will take about 30-35 minutes.

Coming up soon:
On April 6, the Muskrat Piano duo will perform in the Sanctuary at 5 p.m. with SAYC. The Muskrats were with us a few years ago, and we are excited to have them back because the first concert was a blast.

You need to sign up this week for the Palm Sunday Pilgrimage on April 13. We are going to two of the Painted Churches with the SAYC-Woodland Choral Scholars Chamber choir. We’ll send an email about it on Tuesday. For reservations call the church office or sign up on REALM.
Grace and peace,
Garrett Vickrey
