I’m still carrying the joy of yesterday’s service! Randy likened our reentry into our refreshed space to the birth of a child—altogether wonderful and utterly overwhelming. Such is August for our families at Woodland!

Hence, your Family Minister greeting you here.
 
But don’t stop reading if you aren’t actively parenting little ones! Church is one of the few places that embraces true intergenerational life, and we all have a part to play in nurturing curiosity and faith in our littlest theologians. As Diana reminded us, let us all be welcomed—and serve as welcomers.
 
Next Sunday, we officially celebrate the reopening of our renovated sanctuary! We’ll begin with breakfast in Maresh Hall at 9:00 a.m., followed by an opportunity for everyone to explore the sanctuary and its new pieces, including the organ, stained glass, pulpit, and our Worship Woods. After Sunday School at 9:45 a.m., we’ll gather at 11:00 a.m. for worship.
 
It’s also Startup Sunday! Children of all ages (yes, that includes you teenagers!) are invited to bring their backpacks for a blessing during worship. During Sunday School, we'll celebrate Promotion Sunday where children "move up" to their new classes.
 
While our children may have noticed right away, you may have missed something new in the sanctuary: Worship Woods, our dedicated space for children. Our hope is that this welcoming, interactive space helps every child feel loved and included in the life of our church. The goal isn’t simply to occupy or distract children but to offer resources that help them grow in faith and participate meaningfully in worship, while honoring the experience of those around them.
 
A few important notes: Worship Woods is not childcare or a supervised area. Families remain responsible for their child’s supervision, safety, and behavior at all times. We ask families to follow the posted guidelines so that it remains a joyful place for everyone.
 
What a gift it is to be a church where all ages belong and worship together. I can’t wait to see you next Sunday!
