Woodland Church, San Antonio, is a Place on iNaturalist.

We went on our first Community Nature Walk on Saturday, April 25, 2026.

C3 (Christians Caring for Creation) encouraged churches to host Nature Walks on or around Earth Day. Woodland gladly participated. Sign up for the C3 newsletter here.

We met at the pavilion Walker Ranch Park (835 W Rhapsody Dr, San Antonio, TX 78216). Along our walk, we stopped by the Outdoor Classroom to discuss what we noticed and how we felt.

Find a map of the trails here.

As we walked, we noticed:

  • the smell of the air

  • trees and plants

  • animals and insects (large and small)

  • colors and light

  • textures (ground, bark, leaves)

  • our own physical sensations and emotions

We talked about these questions:

  • What was your experience like?

  • How did this walk affect how you feel physically or emotionally?

  • What captured your attention along the way?

  • Did you notice anything you don’t usually notice on a walk?

  • Scripture tells us that “the heavens declare the glory of God” (Psalm 19). Did creation speak to you in any way today?

We are looking at doing more Nature Walks with small groups. Are you interested in leading one of these Walks? Let Lance know. We will provide training.
