Pastoral note, from Garrett
This week holds a rich blend of worship, conversation, learning, and transition in the life of our church. So here’s what’s happening…
Ash Wednesday is this week. On Wednesday, February 18, we will gather at 6:00 p.m. in Maresh Hall for our Ash Wednesday service, marking the beginning of the season of Lent. Childcare will be available. This service offers a quiet, grounding moment to pause, reflect, and enter this season of honesty, repentance, and hope together.
On Tuesday evening, we’ll share food and fellowship at our Pancake Supper. So far, about 115 people are signed up, and there’s still time to join us. Pancakes and Conversation is an all-ages event on Tuesday, February 17, at 6:30 p.m. in Maresh Hall, with special activities planned for children. You can register using the link below.
Tonight, we begin our film and discussion series with a screening of Bad Faith. The film explores the influence of the fundamentalist religious right and the rise of Christian Nationalism. The screening begins at 7:00 p.m., followed by a guided discussion. The film’s runtime is 89 minutes, and all are welcome.
Finally, this Sunday will be Mike and Lisa Massar’s last Sunday with us. We will bless them with a liturgy of sending forth in each worship service, and we invite you to greet them at a reception before Sunday School in the Atrium. It will be a meaningful moment to offer gratitude for their ministry among us and to send them forward with love.
As always, I’m grateful for the many ways you show up for one another, and for this community we share.
Grace and peace,
Garrett Vickrey
Senior Pastor
