Pastoral note, from Garrett

Yesterday we blessed and sent off Mike and Lisa Massar. It was their last Sunday with us. Mike was called as our Associate Pastor of Faith Formation in 2018. I’m going to miss Mike’s creative energy and infectious humor, and I’m sure you’re going to as well. Mike and Lisa wanted to offer their thanks for the kind sendoff— you can see their letter below.

This Sunday there is a meeting with Katie Wilke in the Crossroads classroom to talk about Youth and Children’s ministry at Woodland and her new role as Minister to Families. This meeting will happen during Sunday School.

Lent is here. The 40 days of preparation for Easter set us on a course for Spiritual growth. Palm Sunday is March 29. Maundy Thursday is April 2, and we will have our traditional service that night at 7 p.m. At this point, we plan on having 2 services on Easter in Maresh Hall at 9 and 11 a.m.

Tonight, we continue our 3-part film and discussion series with a screening of God & Country. The film explores the rise of Christian Nationalism and asks whether Christianity is best served by political dominance or by the moral witness of humility, love of neighbor, and constitutional freedom for all. The screening begins at 7:00 p.m., followed by a guided discussion. The film runs 90 minutes, and all are welcome.

Grace and peace,

Garrett Vickrey
Senior Pastor
