Pastoral note, from Garrett
Our middle schoolers left for PASSPORT camp today at McMurry University in Abilene. Keep them in your prayers as they grow closer to Jesus and discover new friends throughout the week.
Tuesday at 4 p.m., folks from Woodland (hopefully you!) are meeting at the San Antonio Museum of Art. There’s no agenda. We’ll meet in the lobby and explore. Entry is free after 4 p.m. on Tuesday for Bexar County residents. You’ll need to bring proof of residency.
This Friday is Elizabeth Myers’ graveside service at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:15 p.m. The family is not up for a longer memorial service. So, this will be the main service and celebration of Elizabeth. All are welcome.
On July 26, after 11 a.m. worship, we will go to Big’z Burgers (1604/Huebner) for our next lunch bunch. They have a great porch and play area. So, bring your appetite and maybe a volleyball.
The Sanctuary Celebration Concerts will be on August 23 at 4 & 6 p.m. Choir, orchestra, and new organ in the new space.
We had originally scheduled a Compassion & Justice Night on Hunger in America. That Hunger event will move to Wednesday night, August 26. First off, what is a Compassion & Justice Night? This is simply an occasional programmatic opportunity for our church to tackle issues or topics where the gospel demands we act. Second, the program (for all ages) will provide an opportunity for education about hunger and an opportunity to act. More on this later.
Grace and peace,
Garrett Vickrey
Senior Pastor
