Pastoral note, from Garrett
Tonight is the second of our three Family Fellowship Nights. Our theme is air. Every living thing needs fresh air to breathe, and we'll explore how air connects us to God and to one another. We'll reflect on our breath as a sign of God's Spirit within us and consider how the quality of the air we share affects our lives and our communities. Oh, and there will also be a bounce house and a game of keepy uppy.
This coming Sunday (June 14), we will move our combined Sunday School gathering to Maresh Hall. We had a larger crowd than expected this past week, and the room was a bit crowded. Maresh Hall will give us more space and better air conditioning. We will also livestream Sunday School so that everyone can participate, whether in person or online.
Also, let's go to lunch this Sunday. Our Summer Lunch Bunch is meeting at 12:00 p.m. at Zorba's (2110 NW Military Hwy). Joel Kirn and Mark Noblitt are our hosts. Look for these two tall guys when you arrive—they'll help you find a seat.
Who's in the Lunch Bunch? Anybody who shows up. No reservations, no sign-ups, just good company and conversation. Everyone is responsible for purchasing their own meal. Come when you can and leave when you want.
The youth will gather for lunch at Panera Bread on Wednesday at noon. If you have questions, please contact Hannah or Katie.
Last Thursday, a small group from our renovation committee spent three hours completing a punch list walkthrough of the sanctuary building. The builders have made significant progress over the past several weeks, and it is exciting to see the project taking shape. There is still substantial work ahead for our A/V contractor, San Antonio Sound & Light, and we expect the utility contractor to complete installation of the new SAWS valve by the end of the month. That will leave July for organ installation, final preparations, and getting the building ready for re-entry.
We are getting closer, and we are grateful for your patience, flexibility, and support throughout this journey.
Grace and peace,
Garrett Vickrey
Senior Pastor
