The third gathering in our four-part Lifestages series is this Wednesday as we explore the gifts (and challenges) of the senior adult years. Mike Massar will be leading this session. Let us know you’re coming by registering here. Dinner will be served beginning at 5:30 p.m., and the class will meet from 6–7 p.m. Children and youth are welcome, too! They’ll have games and activities with Katie and Hannah.
The anniversary picnic is coming up on October 4 at 5 p.m. This Woodland Tradition will celebrate our church’s 37th birthday. 1989 was a big year— the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Tiananmen Square protests, Exxon Valdez, the first Game Boy was released, The Simpsons aired, and Taylor Swift was born. At the same time, a group of people believed that God was doing something new among and through a group of people gathering on the Northside of San Antonio.
Sanctuary Choir is welcoming new singers as it streamlines its rehearsal schedule beginning October 4. Singers who can be present on Sunday mornings for the 10:30 rehearsal time (between Sunday School and Worship) are encouraged to participate in the Choir on Sunday mornings. We will also offer optional rehearsals on selected weeknights (rotating between Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays) for singers (current and new) who want more rehearsal time. We'll share more details in Sunday School classes. If you can carry a simple tune and enjoy singing, please consider adding your voice to those you see and hear on Sunday mornings. Church Business meeting report: We approved a slate of new deacons: Debbie Cochran, Dena Dalton, Ellen DiGiosia, Sallie Lewis, Linda Ramos, Mario Ramos, Linda Reynolds, Brian Sweet, Myung Sweet, Miriam Valenzuela, and Victor Valenzuela. We talked about much-needed maintenance to Maresh Hall. Check out the meeting minutes here.
