Pastoral note, from Garrett

And we’re out! We had a wonderful last worship service in the sanctuary before the renovation. The choir and musicians invited us into a powerful musical experience. Marilyn Gladson offered a thoughtful and profound prayer. We welcomed 7 new members into our fellowship. Afterward, many hands made light work as we moved the sanctuary chairs, hymnals, pulpit, and communion table to Maresh Hall.

This week, our A/V people will move equipment and set up video in Maresh Hall for livestreaming our 11 a.m. service. The sanctuary piano is already there. Dueling pianos will help to lead us in worship.

SUNDAY, June 1, worship will be at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. in Maresh Hall. These will mostly be identical services. However, the choir will mostly do their thing at 11 a.m.

We will hold a groundbreaking ceremony after each service on Sunday. At that ceremony, you will be invited to write a scripture verse or blessing on a new piece of drywall that will go in the renovated sanctuary. We will do a litany (written by Ellen DiGiosia) and celebrate communion.

On a personal note, I’ll be in Dallas for doctoral classes the first two weeks of June (June 2-6 & June 9-13). I’ll be back on Sundays, but I’ll be in the midst of an intensive class schedule. I'll be a little slower than usual responding to texts and calls.

Grace and peace,

Garrett Vickrey
