Pastoral note, from Garrett

Jana Morga has been a valued member of our pastoral staff for nearly five years. Her work has profoundly shaped the spiritual lives of our young people in deep and lasting ways. Today, I want to share with you that she has accepted a call to serve as a pastoral resident at Second Baptist Church in Liberty, MO. She will be concluding her time at Woodland at the end of July. You can read her letter to the congregation below.

Jana and I met with the youth yesterday to inform them of this transition. As you can imagine, they were both sad and excited for her.

We are deeply grateful for Jana’s ministry at Woodland. I look forward to seeing how she grows and evolves as a minister over the next few years. Her last Sunday will be July 27.

The personnel committee is already at work imagining our next steps and considering how we will staff our youth ministry. In fact, I will be meeting with families of children and youth in the Crossroads class this Sunday during Sunday School. If you do not regularly attend the class but would like to participate in the discussion, I invite you to join the class this Sunday.

This Sunday, the Children’s Choir will lead in worship. Choral Scholar Alyssa Moreno and Church Pianist Lois Gagńe have been working with the children to prepare them.

We have 2 more Sundays in the sanctuary. Can you believe it? May 25 will be our last worship service. Speaking of— if you can stick around after worship on May 25, we could use some help moving hymnals and chairs to Maresh Hall.

Also, after Memorial Day, our office will shift to summer hours, where you can expect someone to greet you from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Summer is a busy time for our church staff, with camps, mission trips, choir trips, and denominational gatherings.

Grace and peace,
Garrett Vickrey
