Pastoral letter, from Garrett
This past weekend was full of celebration and preparation for Christmas. On Saturday morning, we welcomed a swarm of children to our Christmas Gift-Making Workshop. A big thanks to Cathy Sagabiel for organizing this event. This is an old Woodland tradition. Several adult volunteers at the workshop attended it as kids years ago.
The San Antonio Youth Chorale hosted a Christmas Concert and dessert fellowship fundraiser in the sanctuary on Saturday afternoon. We enjoyed some sweet treats and great music from SAYC. They raised enough money to “force” Randy to direct the last piece in a Santa costume. Don’t worry, I took plenty of pictures.
The Traveler’s Class got together for their Christmas Party Saturday night at the home of Linda Liebe. By the way, they are now meeting in their new (and expanded) room in the admin building. Go by and check it out when you have a chance.
We had our last deacons meeting of the year on Sunday. It was Martha Morse’s last meeting as chair. She is our first chair to serve a 2-year term. Lee Weems takes over as chair in December. We are so grateful to Martha for the work she has done organizing our deacon ministry over the past two years.
The children will sing in worship this Sunday. After worship, they will have a Christmas party at Main Event. The Youth will have their Christmas party on Friday night.
The Choir is diligently preparing for their Christmas Concert on December 22 at 4 & 5:30 p.m. [Insider talk here…] That first concert (4 p.m.) is usually the most crowded. If you don’t mind driving in the dark, consider going to the 5:30 p.m.
Our Christmas Eve services will be at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Let’s share the light. Invite your friends and family.
Grace and peace,
Garrett Vickrey
