Isaiah 9:6-7
“For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God. Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness for that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.” Isaiah 9:6-7
Isaiah, the prophet, was skilled at making pictures with words. He created visions with his poetry. Take a moment and see in your mind’s eye, this precious child of God – a gift to you and me. He is our counselor, forever our father and He will give us peace.
How do we have peace in today’s world? So many angry people, so much stress — move away from it. Take a few minutes each day to reflect on the things that give you peace — just you and the company of the Lord, dreaming of the mountains and their majesty or hearing the rolling sea and its haven of rest. This is the peace we all long for, and it is present in the beauty of the world around us. Look for it when the sun comes up in the early morning or at dusk when the sun has just dipped over the horizon.
The Prince of Peace, Wonderful Counselor and the Mighty God is yours and mine.
Isaiah spoke of the coming of the Lord 700 years before it happened — and now 2000+ years later, He is with us… forever.
