Isaiah 11:6-9
As I read the Scripture assigned for this day, I could not help but think about the song by Louis Armstrong, “What a Wonderful World.” I love how this song brings a message of peace, love and acceptance to all through a “wonderful world.” I feel too many times when we listen to the news, there seems to be no peace, love or acceptance in our world today.
The passage in Isaiah 11:6-9 talks about a time of peace when children can play together with wild animals without the fear of getting hurt or killed. Imagine if we had a world like that where all animals and people became peaceful and did not wish to hurt one another. I want my children and other children to live in a world like this – a world of peace and acceptance.
As I look around our world today, in many ways there is no peace, and some might say that we do not have a “wonderful world.” But we can be assured that our peace and hope comes from the knowledge that God’s love is coming to us through his son, Jesus. It is through that love we experience peace, regardless of our present circumstances. We can think to ourselves, ”what a wonderful world.”
