Isaiah 7:14
When I was 13 years old I was worried about being accepted by my peers. Mary, the mother of Jesus, had other priorities. We know from biblical accounts that by this age she found favor with God. I can only imagine the many emotions that the young teenage Mary may have been experiencing once she was told by the angel Gabriel she would be having a child that the Holy Spirit was going to place inside her.
When reading this story in the New Testament we know that Mary was most certainly not accepted by many in her community. False gossip probably spread throughout the community about her questionable virtues, as many individuals around her may have doubted her account of the holy conception. During this time Mary remained committed to the will of God and was instrumental in the delivery of the greatest gift humanity has ever received.
We can learn a lot from how Mary allowed the Lord to use her. She learned that when God spoke it was always powerful and full of truth.
For us today this message of prophesy that was given years ago brings such hope in knowing it was fulfilled through the birth, life, and resurrection of Jesus. Challenge yourself during this time of advent to pray, listen and speak boldly in the Father’s name and to never let worldly distractions get in the way of our witness, with the shared objective of bringing others closer to an understanding of the hope we have in our savior, Jesus Christ.
Are there going to be Wednesday night dinners during December? David said he hasn’t found anything about them in the Advent booklet or in the Twig.
Yes. Through 12/17.
Thank you!
